Book Review - "Sun Stand Still"

Sun Stand Still: What Happens When You Dare to Ask God for the Impossible
If you are looking for an easy to read and follow, Christian Self-Help book, this is not the book for you. But if you are looking for a book to challenge your faith in God and ask Him for the impossible, then “Sun Stand Still” by Kevin Furtick is the book for you.

This book will challenge you page after page to take a look at your own belief in a faithful God. Furtick asks you to examine your thought process into how your prayers get answered, not by who you are, or what you do, but by who God is. He is faithful, not us.

Audacious faith is what Furtick says that you should seek to have, just as Joshua had in Joshua chapter 10 when going into an impossible battle against the five Amorite armies. God told Joshua during that march in battle in Joshua 10:8: “Do not be afraid of them; I have given them into your hand. Not one of them will be able to withstand you.” Joshua never gave up on that promise from God, even as it got dark, as some of us would have. In fact as the day was drawing to an end, Joshua knew he would lose the Amorites to the night if he didn’t win before the sun set, so he asked in verse 12 his audacious prayer: “O sun, stand still over Gibeon, O moon, over the Valley of Aijalon.”

That’s the key! We need to have the audacity to ask for what seems impossible. Now, this book would not be complete without telling you how to get to that point of audacious faith in your lives. This book goes on to tell practical applications for the everyday person. Furtick explains that you can’t just live an audacious life without hearing, speaking, and doing the Word. You must have a solid ground to set your audacious prayers on.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who would like to be challenged in their faith and prayer life. This book will touch your understanding of God whether you are a stay-at-home mom, a top executive or a missionary in another country. I highly recommend it. I received this book from Multnomah publishing for this review.
