31 Days of Handmade Christmas Gifts: Day 3 - Chip Clips

Today's Handmade gift is all over the blogs, but I think it's a nice easy way to give a gift with your own personal touch.  I made a set of 6 Decorative Chip or Paper Clips.

You will need:
1.   Use the trimmer to cut strips of decorative scrap paper to fit on the clothes pins.  This can use up some of those scraps you have sitting around!  Use Mod Podge to adhere it to one side of the clothes pin.  Repeat for all the clothes pins.
2.   While it is drying, cut a strip of matching paper to be 2 inches wide.  Then use the Tag Maker to cut one side of the strip into the top of the tag.  You won't put the bottom into the maker, but fish it through the maker, so you can have a long tag.  Like this:
3.  Use the Chalking ink to do the edges of the paper on the clothes pins.

4.   Coat the paper on the clothes pins with a coat of Mod Podge 2-3 more times, letting it completely dry between coats.

5.   Clip onto the paper tag and add a ribbon to the tag.  Mark the tag as you like and give to a friend.  This would make a great gift for a hostess during the holidays.  You could even use Christmas papers and give with a piece of twine to hang Christmas cards on.

This set, I am offering in my Etsy Shop, so if you really liked these or don't want to make your own, you can purchase them!  Check out my favorite link-ups in the right column and don't forget to check out the other 31 Dayers!

  1. I love this idea (it went over to my pinterest!). I have made these before with a magnet on the back for clipping papers to the fridge but I like how you've clipped them to the tag and called them chip clips (I use pegs from under my clothesline for that job at the moment!)

  3. I'm enjoying your "31 Days of Christmas". What a commitment, and I thought my three weeks of Halloween was an undertaking. There's no comparison... I have an appreciation for how much work you've put into this 31 day project, and I'm looking forward many visits to your blog this month! Oh, great tutorial on your clips. This is such a fun and easy project, and it has so many applications
