My 100 Comments Post!

Well, here it is - my 100 Comments On my Blog.  I was all excited when I decided to join everyone else in this challenge, but then of course came the big question - "What was I thinking?"  Well, I wanted the top to be big, I wanted it to be interesting, and I wanted you to want to help me get to 100 comments by commenting on this post.  What better topic than what's going on in my life?

The highway to our new home
We have just moved, so I am in need of changes on my blog, changes in my Etsy Shop,  and possibly a move for my blog. So here's the topic of my Big Post:  What should I name my blog and Etsy store?  So many people have such clever titles and names for their blogs and their shops, and I want to come up with just the right one!  So here's where you come in - I need your help (and your comment) to help me come up with a name.  Obviously, I can't keep my blog and shop name of Sparta Savings, since I don't live in Sparta anymore (I'm sorry to my readers who read me only for my Sparta hints.)

I want to write about things that are going on in my life on my blog.  I want to include ways that I save money, craft, recipes and anything else that interests me in the moment.   In fact, I feel like I have maybe limited myself too much in the past by naming it Sparta Savings.  I know you are supposed to pick a direction for your blog, but I think this time around, I can't make it quite so specific. Here are some of the thoughts that I have that are important to keep in mind about me when naming the blog:

  • Mother of 5
  • Homeschooler
  • Sewer (I hate to seemstress, because that makes it sound like I fix things, which I hate mending!) - Sewing is probably my favorite craft!
  • New Resident to the Camas Prarie in Idaho
  • Airstreamer
  • Scrapbooker
  • Love to decorate
  • Favorite style - shabby chic crossed with funky junk
  • Christian
  • Things I like to make: baby bibs and accessories, hair pieces and pins made with flowers, bows and feathers, table runners, pillows and Christmas stockings
  • Restore found "junk" into a new life
  • Couponer
  • Love Freebies!
I thought I'd make a top ten list for you on the names that I have thought of (in no particular order):
  1. Junkture ID (Idaho)
  2. Camas Creations
  3. Creative Camas Life
  4. Prairie Life Creations
  5. Prairie Junk Life
  6. Prairie Scraps
  7. Relife Idaho
  8. Westward Scraps
  9. CP Junkture (Camas Prairie)
  10. You Name It!
Camas Prairie
I feel like this is such huge commitment that I can't make up my mind, and really, I'm not sure that I've hit just the right one!  This is where I need your comments (and hopefully 100 of them!) to help me make up my mind.  Maybe because I am so emotionally attached, I just can't come up with a name.

Oh, I thought I would leave you with a photo of the area I am now living in.  Thank you in advance for your assistance!  Please share with anyone you know and visit those in that right bar that I love to link up to!

  1. I like Camas Creations and Prairie Scraps...but I'm thinking maybe leave the name of the town out just in case of another move. Here are some names off of the top of my head: Sew Chic, Cross Country Creations, Little Blog on the Prairie, My Prairie Life, Old Made New, The Prairie Patch,

congrats on the new job and the move! Good luck with the name change.

  2. I agree with Sharon, I also like Camas Creations and Prairie Scraps. I really do like Prairie Scraps better though, it just sounds cute.
Found your blog from House of Grace Link party. Good luck!

  3. I am liking Sharon's ideas of Sew Chic or slight change to "Little Blog on the Prayer-ee"

  4. I like both of your prairie options
(also, I'm on a crusade to get rid of word verification since now the words are even harder to read :) You may want to consider turning it off :)

    1. Yeah, it's easy to turn it off--here's how:
Go to your blogger dashboard and click settings (you have to be in the old blogger interface--if you're in the new one, click on the gear icon in the top right, then select "old blogger")
Click settings, then comments, then click "no" for show word verification.
      Should take care of it!

  6. Both are very nice, but I know it's a tough decision. Good Luck! I discovered you on Artsy Girl Linky Party and I’m now a follower; I would appreciate you following me back.

  7. I could hardly stand to stay away from a site called Prairie Scraps. I love that! I'm a crafty homeschool mom too! I'm following and can't wait to see all you have in store!

  8. I like Prairie Scraps. I am a homeschool mom too but I don't make crafts, I buy them!

Stopping in from the 100 Comments event!

  9. I like Prairie Creations the best.

Changing names is always hard. It took me days to figure out exactly what to name my blog.

To play off the Sew and savings part, maybe Sew Many Savings?

  10. I like that one too, but I don't know if I want to corner myself into sewing only...Thanks for stopping!

  11. Here's my vote, Prairie Creations. Good luck with all the changes in your life.

  12. Hi, I've just found your blog, and your new life sounds so exciting. I agree that Prairie crestions sounds good. How about New Life Creations?
Love your Re-do's, we have the same taste, so I'll be checking to see what you do next!
    Much love, Jenny

  13. I hate choosing names so I understand how you feel. I like Prairie Life Creations from your list.

  14. Camas Creations gets my vote.

  15. This is definitely a task that must be taken with much thought. What name would you like to be known by? When people see you on the street what wouldn't you mind being called?

Remember the name you choose should be easy to say and easy for people to remember. I know tough decisions LOL

    1. As I think about it - Prairie anything does reflect me, because I graduated from Sun Prairie HS! Funny how I end up back on the Prairie! Life has come full circle! I guess even if I move, it still reflects me, since that's where I come from!

  16. I like Prairie Scraps. Good luck on picking the name! :)

  17. I love the options, but if you're going to move again, what about a name that reflects you, and not just your location?
    Good luck with it all.
    Peace and good.

  18. I like the Junkture ID. I think it is catching! Good luck!

  19. You need to determine what your blog will be about before you try to name it. :-) Once you know that, the name will be the easy part. Happy day. Deb

  20. I agree that you should think about what you want your blog to be about before you choose a name. I do like Camas Creations, however.

    ReplyDelete
  21. How about From Shabby Chic to Funky Junk? I do also like Camas Creations.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I must say that something about the Shabby Chic to Funky Junk struck a chord with me too...

  23. The pics are beautiful. Good luck on choosing that new name!

  24. Seeing how I'm new to your blog I wouldn't exactly know how to help. But I would suggest that you name it for your passion and not where you life.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I like the word "junkture." Maybe Creative Junkture?

    ReplyDelete
  26. I like Prarie Creations. I think it's more about you rather than where you are so it doesn't limit you if you move again. Good luck in your new town - the pictures are very nice!

  27. I wouldn't use Prairie or Prayer-ee because it's hard to spell correctly which can lead your readers to the wrong site.

But then again, I spell my name without the trailing e and my blog name has my name in it so I'm sure I lose readers because they end up at the wrong site, too! LOL

  28. I like the Prairie ideas. Your prairie looks beautiful and would make a lovely theme.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I too like the Prairie ones. But your current one is good too.

  30. I am in the same spot you are - I dislike my blog name b/c it seems to be misleading to people - I guess I didn't consider that when I started but now I don't know WHAT to do... if I change my name and URL I will lose all my google ranking... :( And I don't even have a catchy name to change it to! boo hoo! Good luck with yours - at least you've narrowed it down to a top 10! :)

  31. I love what Sharon @ mrshinesclass came up with: The Prairie Patch. I think this can travel with you anywhere and when I read it I think of a lot of good things like... Little House on the Prairie, Cabbage Patch Kids, patch quilts, pumpkin patch... and then I envision you living on a peaceful prairie. I don't know, that name just gave me lots of happy thoughts and visuals! Good luck naming your blog! :)

  32. I do like Prarie Scraps. How about My Life in Scraps or Sew Crafty?

    ReplyDelete
  33. You have a pretty good list going. The only thing I came up with is IdaHOME Lifestyle or something in that direction... I love the photos, your new hometown looks amazing, like something from national geographic, hehe!

  34. Prairie Scraps stood out to me the most on your list, but I like the other comment suggestions too, like Prairie Patch or Creative Junkture. Sounds awesome!!!

  35. Prairie Life Creations gets my vote!!!

  36. Well a homeschooling mother of 5 with a blog and an etsy store, how about the name, Wonder Women?

    ReplyDelete
  37. I like something with the prairie name in it. You moved to a beautiful place! Good luck!!

    ReplyDelete
  38. I like Prairie Life Creations or Westward Scraps of the choices given. It took me months to come up with a new name when I changed my blog name. I don't envy the task before you.

  39. Ooh good luck on your new venture(s)! I like your #1 suggestion the best. I'm not the most creative person so I can't think of anything else to add lol.

  44. What about blue waters in ID (Idaho)? Water can go in many places and you have a lot of things to talk about in your blog. Let me know what you come up with. Stay in touch :)
