Baked Bananas

I made these, thinking it sound great and might be healthy while on my Weight Watchers diet.  I guess that it's not horrible, but it's not the the greatest either.  The kids loved these and had fun making them, too.  We will definitely be using these camping this summer!

You will need:
  • Bananas - 0 points
  • 1 Tablespoon Chocolate Chips for each banana - 2 points
  • 5 large marshmallows(or equivalent in small  marshmallows) for each banana - 3 points
  • Foil
Total Points Plus for Weight Watchers: 5 per banana.
First, slit the banana open, trying not to cut into the banana.
Leave banana in tact in the peel, but open up at the slit.
Add 1 Tablespoon of chocolate chips inside of the banana.
Then add the marshmallows.  OK - I wanted to do this because I couldn't think of anything else to do with these leftover Christmas marshmallows that my Mom gave to us.  They would turn anything else colors and I didn't really like them to eat by themselves,so this seemed like a great way to get rid of them! (Please ignore the bleeding hands - my eczema has been pretty bad this year.)
Here they are going into the banana.
Wrap the filled the banana with foil.  Bake in a 350 degree oven (or campfire) for 10 minutes, or until the chip and the marshmallows melt and the banana is warm.
Here it is all baked & yummy goodness!  They were so good! The kids really enjoyed them!  I think that this is a great way to get your kiddos to eat a fruit (if you have problems with that.)  Also, it's a pretty inexpensive dessert, since bananas are usually one of the cheapest fruit at the store.

$.75 / Dozen Eggs

I just wanted to mention that the Sparta Walmart had the dozen large eggs on sale for $.75 each!  I haven't seen eggs this low for a long time!  I was standing there trying to figure out why, because the 18 count was $1.75 each, which means that it was only $1.50 for two dozen.  I had to inform a lady that was going to absent-minded pick up the 18 count without pricing it out that she would be paying a quarter more for less eggs.  I just couldn't stand watching her pay more.  I'm not sure if this is our store only, if there's been a rollback, but it's nice to stock up on eggs and have some egg dishes!

Bringing Spring In

OK, here in Wisconsin, we seem to be hanging onto winter for way too long!  Every little flower that comes up, I get really excited.  I am so ready to be over winter!  It has been so cold!!!  Back to bringing in spring....

Last year, I brought this screen in, because I saw that someone else on blogger land had used a screen over their toilet for decoration.  I have dozens in my back yard that I am planning to use for some project some day, so I found the one I like the most and put it up.  I like it, but it just doesn't seem like there is enough there to really make it look great.  Then, I saw the idea to hang a vase on a picture frame with a bud in it.  Aha!  I may have found the solution!   I have just the frame for this! Here's my bathroom.  What do you think about my beautiful Narcissus that is blooming in my back yard?

I used twine to wrap around it and then hang it from the top of the frame.  I liked the twine's curly ends just dangling down, too, so I left them.  I am very excited about this, as I have a lot of flowers in my yard, but I rarely bring them into the house.  The whole project has cost me nothing! This way, I can bring in just one, and "treat" my guests to a flower, since this is my main bathroom that everyone uses!

Don't forget to stop by and check out those blogs that I love to link up to in the right hand column!

Display Tree

Well, I've been making up a lot of headbands and barrettes again. My friend that has been selling them for me, has asked me to make a lot of them for her this month. She also asked if I would make something to display them for her at her shows (she does jewelry shows). I have been giving her the hair pieces in a box because I didn't want to cause her too much trouble. Well, she wanted something big and pretty, like a tree.

I decided to use some Red Dogwood branches from a tree in my front yard (poor, thing, I keep scalping it for my projects! lol) and ended up with a giant Swiss Miss can with a bunch of flat rocks in it to keep them standing.  Here's what it looks like:

I used the tutorial over at Sew.Craft.Create. to make tissue blossoms on the branches.  I also used used a brown paper bag and a glue gun to cover the can.  To tie in the pink flowers, I tied a ribbon around the can.  I think it turned out really cute.  Sorry for the not so great pictures of it.  It was difficult to get a picture without all the shadows...

Here are some of the Hair pieces that I added to the tree to sell this time around:

Barrette

Rubber Band Flower

Baby Rosette Band

A pair of Rosette Barrettes

My friend has asked me to share a booth at a huge holiday craft show in the area in November, so I will need to make a lot of stuff to sell.  I also need to come up with a name for my new business!  I've been thinking about D.S. Blooms for my husband and my initials and the Blooms for not only the flowers on my hair pieces, but those in my yard, too.  Any other ideas?  I had thought of Blooms & Bows, but found another one on the Internet.  I wanted to have some sort of flower theme...

Please check out the blogs I love to link up to in the right column and leave a comment with your ideas for a name!  Thanks!
