New Cards Using the Project Center

It's been a pretty busy summer for us, as we've had two different foreign exchange students stay with us for a month each.  One of the things that is always a challenge, is that we try to send gifts back for each of their families in their suitcase.  I always make an album (late nights the last few days they are here) of their stay with us.  Then, each family is different for gifts. We sadly said good-bye yesterday to our Japanese exchange yesterday, so I sent handmade gifts to her Mom.  I made a set of 4 cards to send with her.  Since our holidays aren't the same, I wanted to make blank cards for her.  I figured cards would be light in her suitcase - and thankfully she needed it to be as light as possible!

To get an idea of what to make, I went to my website: www.mycmsite.com/doristowell and went to the project center under the traditional projects.  I searched under the Projects by Tools and found this tutorial on how to use the Blossom Place 'n Punch to make this card.

I also used this idea from the same section to make a card using the Tag Maker and the Blossom Place 'n Punch.  It really goes to show that you can use the project center to adapt your project for what you might have on hand.  For the paper, I used all the scraps of Creative  Memories paper that I had on hand, too.
Please let me know what you think?  Hopefully, our Exchange Student's Mom loves them too.  Just a disclaimer, I am an Independent Creative Memories Consultant - it's how I pay for my own Creative Memories Habit!

Toys-R-Us Shopping Trip

I don't know if you are on the Birthday club for Toys-R-Us, but we have several birthdays in the next few months, so we get cards from Toys-R-Us for their birthdays.  Over the years, it's been several different things.  This year, we got cards that give $5 off a $25 purchase.  I had also gotten a coupon from the Crayola company directly, because our Crayon Maker started on fire inside (yes it did! )  When we called to complain about it, they sent us a coupon for up to $20 off any Crayola item.  I've been waiting for just the right deal to use that coupon, as I didn't want to use it on something that was under $20 or it would be a loss.

This week, Toys-R-Us has all Crayola products on sale for Buy One, Get One Free!  In addition to that, when you purchase $9.99 of Crayola products, you get a free game mat, valued at $13.99!  So here's my deal:  I bought the Glow Dome for $24.99, giving me the Color Explosion Glow Board for $22.99 for FREE!  Then, because I got more than $9.99 in Crayola, I got the Game Mat for FREE too!  They took off the $20 coupon, and then a $5 off $25 birthday coupon.  I did add a three pack of Bubblicious gum on clearance for $98, just in case my purchase wasn't over $25, for the $5 off.

All four of  these items retailed for $62.95, but I paid $2.15!  That's right you read it right!  I got it for just over $2!!!  I can't begin to tell you how wonderful it feels to have two of my kids Christmas presents already for so little money!  When I got home, my hubby balled me out, because the kids actually got $3 off cards from the same club for their birthday, and I didn't use it. lol.  I may have to do some more Crayola shopping with these cards, because BOGO Free deals are a great way to get a nice gift for younger kids for birthdays and Christmas.  Just when will I go to Onalaska again....

Abercrombie t-shirt Upcycle

I finally got another item up on my Etsy Shop (check out that link in the left bar, please!).  I think this one is so cute, that I can't even contain it.  I happened to have an Abercrombie t-shirt here that had a stain on it that worked perfectly for this idea from A Little Tipsy.  Please let me know what you think!
Terry Cloth Back
I was concerned with the t-shirt being able to attach without having puckers, but it really ended up going together nicely.  I did learn to sew with the t-shirt side down, so the little strings on the terry cloth don't get stuck in the feeds.
Velcro Clasp

This would make a wonderful shower gift for a new baby, don't you think?  It could be for both a baby boy or a baby girl.
